The I&M Foundation has pledged an extra KES 2 million to support the continuing management and preservation of the Ngong Sanctuary Forest.
The latest funding is aimed at strengthening fence management around the sanctuary, a critical step in safeguarding both biodiversity and visitors. The contribution will support the purchase of 14 scout uniforms and provide salary support for the forest’s rangers over the next year.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Sustainability Lead Dipna Shah said, “As we reach this final handover milestone, our focus is on ensuring sufficient, sustained support to help this forest transition successfully into its next chapter. By providing uniforms and salary support, we are ensuring that these scouts can perform their duties with dignity and security, laying a strong foundation for the long-term stewardship of this sanctuary.”
The Ngong Sanctuary Forest has been a central element of Project Imarisha, a program initiated by the I&M Foundation to promote sustainability, education, and community advancement. This project has played a major role in reshaping the sanctuary.
The project has also helped build housing for rangers and facilities for bathing, which bolsters the infrastructure essential for both managing the forest and enhancing the visitor experience.
The Foundation views this latest investment as a crucial shift, signaling a move past the initial restoration work and into a long-term commitment to stewardship.
